    Hello Jameel,
At UCLA, the Dissertation Year Fellowship is a $17,500 stipend (paid
fall, winter and spring quarters), mandatory fees (excluding tuition)
and a reimbursable research allowance of up to $500.

    Subject: Dissertation year fellowship amounts

    Hello Grad FAC members,

    A question for you.

I was just contacted by someone who is working on a new grants program
which has a Ph.D. dissertation fellowship component, and they are trying
to decide on the amount of the fellowship. What are the usual amounts
for dissertation-year UC fellowships that students compete for? I am
sure that this varies by fellowship program, but it would be fine to
just get an idea of how some other programs are structured.

    Thanks,
    Jameel
