Large file support for vector and raster files

    As RS produces larger and larger files (through greater spectral and spatial
    resolution and spatial extent), I've been noticing a lot of image analysis
    and GIS programs are dying on very large files. I was wondering if people
    would send me emails about your experience with various programs when using
    large (say > 2GB) image files. We've seen problems with ArcMap (using the
    ENVI plugin, and also exporting vectors to rasters where the output is
    large), ERDAS (large Geotiffs), ENVI (large vector files), eCognition (too
    many vector files). What programs seem to have large files in mind and work
    well?
