Merging two data sets

    Hi,
    I want to know how to combine 2 datasets of same type.
     
    I have file1: 1-40 bands and file2: 41-75 bands. I want to make them into one file 1-75 bands. They have same spatial dimensions and are same type, bil etc.
     
    These 2 datsets are similar in all aspects, except that the first few bands are in one file and the 2nd few in other.
     
    So any suggestions how to merge them into a single file programatically in ENVI (not using ENVI's menu items)
     
    Is there any envi/idl function available to merge these files into one?
