Seafood consumption during the end of year holidays

I would be very interested in knowing which communities and nationalities consume seafood over the Christmas and New Year holidays. I seem to remember that in Eastern Europe carp dishes are very important and very popular. If my memory serves me well I think that in Italy seafood is served, particularly shellfish (7 dishes?), on New Year's eve. In Iceland they have the rotten skate festival just before Christmas (Details of how the skate is prepared would be of interest). If there are any particular seafood dishes of cultural importance that are prepared at this time of year I would appreciate hearing about them. I could collate the information and send it back to the list if there is interest. Thank you for your help.

Best Wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Richard
