Dipak:
Optimal utilization of your fish processing waste depends on your
location, other industries in the area and the species you process. For
example, our seafood processing waste goes to mink and hog farmers for
feed, fishmeal plants, local glue manufacturers, lobster fishermen for
bait, etc. Recently, I visited a seafood plant that seemed to build an
upscale salmon aquaculture and processing business around utilizing its
processing waste. Utilization of sophisticated technologies, such as
fishmeal processing, silage, is great, but recognizing local, low
technology opportunities can often be better.
Tell us more about your situation - the location, species and potential
opportunities.
