On the "seafood quality publications" web page
(http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/Pubs/qual.htm) of the Seafood Network
Information Center there are two menu options for downloading Excel 97
spreadsheet files for calculating the amount of:

-Slush Ice Needed for Commercial Fishing (1/99), by Kenneth Hilderbrand,
Oregon State University

-Wet Ice Needed for Commercial Fishing (1/99), by Robert J. Price,
University of California, Davis

By inputting factors such as:
        weight of fish in hold
        hold capacity (length, width, height)
        insulation thickness
        seawater temperature
        fish temperature on landing
        trip length

the spread sheets automatically calculate:
        ice needed to cool fish
        ice needed for heat leakage
        total ice needed
        insulation factor
        ice to fish ratio

The models do not consider ice needed to counter either heat loss through
an open hold cover or heat build-up in fish.
