Refer to the FDA "Fish List" for your answer. Sablefish is the accepted
name, Black Cod is a regional name. In my experience, everybody knows what
Black Cod is and many fewer know Sablefish. Alas, there are many names for
most every fish and FDA decided for us which are proper and which are not.
The "Fish List" is on line at http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~frf/seaintro.html
