The State of Alaska's Food Safety and Sanitation Program seeks an
energetic and proactive Environmental Health Officer III (PCN 18-7788,
Range 18) professional with experience in seafood or shellfish programs.
This position serves as the Statewide Seafood Program Specialist with
responsibilities for development of seafood inspection protocols
consistent with State, Federal, and contractual requirements,
standardizing and training staff to perform seafood processing
inspections, auditing staff performance on carrying out seafood
processing inspections, reviewing seafood processing inspection reports
to ensure that quality standards are achieved and ensuring that
inspection reporting errors are corrected.
This position also serves as the Food Safety and Sanitation Program's
seafood quality assurance program officer responsible for ensuring that
seafood program and environmental sampling activities are statistically
valid, scientifically correct, and that the results may be used to
support public health, permitting and enforcement decisions.
This position requires regular travel to remote areas of Alaska. The
work requires the application of a broad base of environmental health
