Dallas Task Force Meeting - There will be an open session Marine and
Freshwater Toxins Task Force Meeting, for those of you with interests in
Mycotoxins also, there is a new Mycotoxins Community starting and they
will hold a meeting too.
Dallas Symposia Topics
Although final titles will all be available in Spring I am listing here
those addressing natural toxins, bioactives, toxicology: "Natural Toxins
Detection I: Impact of Materials Science and Nanotechnology", "Natural
Toxins Detection II: Method Development Validation, and Stakeholder
Role", "Bioactives: Looking for the Unknown and Parallels in Drug
Discovery and Toxin Detection" (Parts 1 and 2), "Problems and Solutions
that Analytical Chemists Provide to Toxicologists" (Parts 1 and 2),
"Analytical Challenges to Consider When Analyzing Trace Level
Contaminants in Food" Many other topics as well including Dietary
Supplements, Reference Materials, etc. There will soon be more details
such as full list of co-chairs, description of symposium intent, etc.
2) Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, June 15-20, 2008
Rapid Test Kit Workshop, Seattle, WA Shoreline Laboratory and Hotel
Nexus, June 15-17, 2008
ELISA and Dipstick Tests for Natural Toxins, Vet. Residues, Allergens -
Including lectures and extensive hands-on experience, kits from several
vendors , this session in association with Pacific NW AOAC Annual
Meeting which follows on June 18, 19, 2008. Laboratory use means that
spots are available on limited basis, so if you are interested in the
workshop please contact me at James_Hungerford@hotmail.com. Registration
for this event ($350) not included with the AOAC meeting, however
workshop registrants will get substantial discount on AOAC meeting
registration ($400 for both events).
Pacific NW AOAC Annual Meeting, June 18, 19, 2008:
Topics include Keynote Talks on Outbreak Examples/Analysis (PSP in
Shellfish, E Coli in Spinach), Critical Factors in ELISA Development,
Flow-FFF Analysis in Biotechnology and Nanotechnology, a lead keynote
talk on the progression of analytical chemistry from biblical times to
our present capabilities for single molecule detection, and Seminar
Sections on Marine and Freshwater Toxins, Microbiology, Pesticides, Soil
Analysis, Training topics addressing validation, measurement
uncertainty, and Banquet talk on Shellfish and the Treaty Tribes of
Washington State. This year we are pleased to have speakers from as far
as New Zealand and Italy. Although at this time the meeting website is
being updated (and so the information above is more current at this
time) meeting registration will be through the website

(topics as for Dallas annual meeting above).
