I was not able to find the particular report but if you search for Marlene Roeckel von B on Google you will find some of the work they have done in Chile with industrial fish waste waters. Her co-author on many of these projects was Christina Marti. There is a specific report on recovering methane but I can't find the reference. She is at the Univ of Concepcion in Chile. One link is below but there are others. Maybe the reference to the report is in the publication below.

As I recall, at the time early 2000's, the size of the plant was so large that no one could afford the capital expense. Of course the economics have changed now.

Regarding biodiesel and bio-fuels, someone already mentioned that fish oils are currently being burned in boilers and on fishing vessels around the world or converted to esters for biodiesel. Alaska burns quite a bit of their fish oil. One interesting item is that in Nova Scotia , Canada they take the saturate ethyl ester fraction from the production of omega 3 concentrates and burn that. As I recall it is being used in the Halifax bus system.

      Dear Listers,

I am searching for information on seafood factories (or publications) which has done the following.

      methane recovery from wastewater treatment
combustion of generated biogas in seafood processing activities
biodiesel generation from waste animal fat

Any info would be most useful.

      Yours sincerely,

      Joseph Paul
