Dr Venugopal:
Dr Aurelia Tubaro was the principle organizer of the symposium in Italy
which, although a variety of toxins were discussed, had much of its
focus on the Ostreocins/Palytoxins of the Mediterranean.
Although I was on the local organizing committee it is best if Dr Tubaro
responds so I will forward on your question.
Generally, the phycotoxins are the subject of extensive monitoring
programs worldwide and many of the methodological issues are centered on
the need to validate more modern methods - mouse bioassays are still
widely used. On this issue please feel free to contact me our Task Force
group has many validation projects ongoing.

Subject: Algal toxins and seafood
Hi all,
I am interested to know the influence of marine algal toxins on seafood
safety. I understand there was an international symposium on algal
toxins, held during May 27-29, 2007 at the
University of Trieste, Aula Magna, Edificio H3, Trieste, Italy. Did they
publish the proceedings? Where I can find the information? Thanks.
Dr. V. Venugopal
