Dear Colleagues,
Our fourteenth biennial conference, "Achieving a Sustainable Future:
Managing Aquaculture, Fishing, Trade and Development", will be held July
22-25, 2008, in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
IIFET is the International Institute of Fisheries Economics & Trade, a
global forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and solutions for
the economics of seafood trade, fisheries management, aquaculture, and
related seafood and marine resource use issues. We encourage
participation from academia, government, the seafood industry,
international and non-governmental organizations around the globe in our
network and events. Anyone with an interest in the economics of marine
resource use, fisheries and aquaculture is welcome; conference
presentations include both applied and economic-theoretical work.
The organizer of IIFET 2008 Vietnam is Nha Trang University, located on
the beautiful and rapidly developing central coast of Vietnam. The
setting will be ideal for an examination of our main themes:
International Trade, Marketing, Policy and Management Systems,
Aquaculture, Allocation, and Development. Sessions will be held on a
wide variety of topics within these themes; just a small sample includes
"Consumer Behavior/Demand", and "Non-Tariff Barriers to Trade:
Traceability, Eco-labels, Quality", "Marketing and Promotion of
Fisheries Products", "Ecosystem-based Fisheries Management", and
"Aquaculture and Fisheries Interactions"--please visit our website for a
more complete list.
Please consider submitting an abstract or a proposal for a special
session, and visit http://oregonstate.edu/Dept/IIFET/iifet2008.html for
details. We look forward to welcoming participation from the seafood
community from all fishing and aquaculture regions across the globe.
