    A four and one-half day Introductory Food Microbiology Short Course will
    be held in Boise on August 13-17, 2007. The course is sponsored by
    University of Idaho Extension, Washington State University Extension,
    and TechHelp Idaho. Co-sponsors include Intermountain IFT, Northwest
    Food Processors Association, and the UI Department of Food Science and
    Toxicology.

     

    The course will be taught by Dr. Dong-Hyun Kang, Associate Professor,
    Washington State University, on the campus of Boise State University.
    The course agenda includes:

     

    + Practical lab exercises on enumeration of food borne microorganisms,
    monitoring plant sanitation, lab procedures and safety

    + Presentations on microbial growth, pathogens, nutrition and media,
    food safety, fermentations, and spoilage.
