The GMA/FPA (formerly NFPA) Center for Northwest Seafood in Seattle,
Washington has an opening for Department Head of Processing and Packaging.
The Successful Candidate will have:
* Degree in Food Science or Microbiology (Advanced degree preferable)
* Ability to work both independently and as part of the Center Team
* Good communication skills
* Seafood Industry experience preferred
* Teaching skills to accommodate training responsibilities
Position Responsibilities are:
* Provide Process Authority services applicable to low acid canned
food, as well as other cooked and pasteurized seafood. Particularly
services to assist members with process development and validation
* Provide a resource for members for technical information regarding
processing equipment, and packaging equipment and materials
* Provide assistance through consultation with members on regulatory
matters (LACF, HACCP)
* Participate with Center staff as a sensory analyst
* Conceive, prepare, and conduct training activities that address food
safety (HACCP, Microbiology) considerations for processing and packaging.
