    Warmest regards,

    Ricardo Simpson
    Professor

    Dear friends:

It is great pleasure to inform you that activities to organize ICEF 10 in Chile
    on April 2008, are underway.

The major theme for this event will be FOOD ENGINEERING AT INTERFACES. The idea
is to explore how food engineers have to be prepared in years ahead not only to
perform in their normal activities but also to engage in new challenges and
opportunities that will make our profession more attractive, responsive, and
able to reach out for a larger impact.

These challenges and opportunities are within the profession and at interfaces
with other areas. It is a major role of engineers to incorporate into the
profession new knowledge and respond to practical needs. We would like to
explore how we are integrating developments in the basic sciences of physics
and chemistry, nutrition, informatics, materials sciences, genomics (and other
omics), quality and safety, consumer behavior and gastronomy. Interfaces with
the environment, the business sector, regulations and export markets are also
    important to consider.

    José Miguel Aguilera
    President of Congress
