    According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS) virus is a serious pathogen and an emerging disease of fresh and saltwater fish in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada. VHS virus affects fish of all sizes and ages and does not pose any threat to human health.
