    Greetings seafood group

It is an interesting scenario and not one that I have heard about.

I do know that allergic reactions to latex are quite common and are very
much an occupational health and safety issue. I know from an accomplice who
works in the health industry (my wife) that most health laboratories will
carry three or four different brands of gloves because of allergic reactions
that are experienced by workers to certain materials.

I understand that there are latex free gloves or gloves labeled a
    non-allergic.

As to whether any traces of latex could transfer to product handled and then
be picked up by a consumer - If I was developing a HACCOP plan around the
issue, I would rate the hazard as extremely low to non-existent.

I have copied Dr Andreas Lopata into this e-mail who might be able t comment
directly. Dr Lopata is much more of an allergies expert and particularly in
the area of occupational allergies than I am.

    Hope this helps

Subject: Latex gloves - allergic reactions

    Dear Seafood Community:

Does anybody have information about allergic reactions in consummers, due to
latex trace in fish handled with latex gloves during processing? Does anyone
have experience with latex free gloves?

    I would appreciate any comment.

    Regards.
