I have been asked about labeling on shrimp, specifically whether the
words "chem free" or "chemical free" are allowed on labels for
packages of frozen shrimp in the U.S.
My questions are:
1) what is the best labeling language for shrimp that has no
tripolyphosphate and no bi-sulfites.
2) Can Chem Free shrimp contain either tripoly or the sulfites. Some
have told me because they are salts, they don't fall under the
"chemical" label, and can be used even though the label says chem
free.
3) where is the best source of anonymous advice on labeling shrimp
additives, or not.
