Hi Allen,
One other way I use to identify big eye tuna is by way of the ventral fins, also known as finlets. The ventral fins of the big eye tuna have a dark outline on the inner side of each fin i.e. not completely yellow as they are in yellow fin tuna. Also (as already explained) the tail section of the big eye tuna (from dorsal fin to caudal fin) is a lot more deeper than the yellow fin tuna which tapers of in a much more slender shape toward the caudal fin.
