    Good morning Amilcar

IN Australia, all species are assigned a Standard Fish name which is
included ni the Australian Standard Fish Names List (available at
    www.fishnames.com.au).

The species that you refer to are: all salmonoids and as such will be either
salmon or trout depending on the species.

Salmo salar is Atlantic Salmon whereas Oncorhynchus mykiss is Rainbow Trout

The collective or Group Name for Oncorhynchus & Salmo spp is Salmon.

    Hope this makes sense

I was wondering if anybody is in the salmon business: Knowing that
Oncorhynchus spp. salmo salar is salmon, can anybody legally label
steelhead salmon (trout) - Oncorhynchus mykiss - as salmon?

    Thanks in advance,

    Amilcar
