Dear Byron
There might be more to be concerned about in fishmeal besides histamine.
Many years ago some researchers in Japan found gizzerocine (not sure of
spelling) a peptide found in fishmeal that caused erosion of the gizzards of
young chickens. This unusual peptide bound to receptors that stimulated
stomach acid release (also one of actions of histamine). I am not sure if I
still have this old reference handy, but others on this listserve might.
