Water shortages worldwide have an enormous current and potential impact on the food industry. Agriculture alone now consumes about 70% of the use of water worldwide. In fact, water scarcity severely limits and threatens the safety and security of the world's food supply. Tomorrow, water may become your most expensive ingredient!
In response to numerous questions from food processors, FPA is offering "Water Shortages in the US Food Industry". The goal of the workshop is to help our food and beverage companies advance their knowledge to understand the global water crisis, how it will affect food companies, and steps to take to reduce water shortages in food production. Topics will include:
* The global and US outlooks for water shortages
* The next water crisis
* The regulatory status of water
* Sustainability
* Technologies available to conserve and reuse water in the food plants
* New technologies in the pipeline to reduce water shortages, and efficient water management practices that reduce water demands while boosting productivity and profits.
Just as gas and oil have become more expensive and sometimes scarce, your company should be planning for water to follow. This workshop will include 1½ days of education and discussion for food and beverage processors on how to reduce water consumption by applying tried and proven methodologies and efficient management practices to their company's plant and agriculture operations.
