    Timothy Hansen has been selected as the new NOAA Seafood Inspection Program director. He begins his new position on August 4, 2006.

    Tim has an educational background in fisheries and he has worked in industry, and for both the US FDA and the USDC/NOAA-SIP. Tim earned his bachelor of science degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Washington. He has 9 years of seafood industry experience in quality management. He has had 12-1/2 years with NOAA SIP as an inspector, Deputy Region Chief, director of Field Operations and Director of Technical Services. At the FDA Office of Seafood in College Park, MD, he has served as a consumer safety officer and branch chief. Currently he is a director with the FDA Office of Seafood.
