    Dear Dipak and Everyone,

Thank you, and others on this listserv for writing about Bob Price. I
will be forwarding all condolences on this listserv to his family. They
appreciate your kind thoughts and remembrances in working with Bob.

This listserv is a fitting platform for our subscribers to honor Bob's
memory. I believe that he truly enjoyed using the computer as a tool for
    work, communications, and recreation.

I first met Bob around 1974 in the Food Science and Technology Department
when I worked in fruit and vegetable processing extension. In 1983 there
was an opportunity for me to work with Bob until he retired in
February 2003 when he was one month shy of 59 years old.

Bob Price was an exceptional professional and through his vision as the
founder of this listserv and the web site (seafood.ucdavis.edu), he has
brought the global seafood community together. He got this idea as a way
to help the seafood industry and regulators (in the US and worldwide) to
communicate HACCP concepts, the control of seafood hazards, GMP issues,
seafood safety, quality, and numerous other key issues of concern to
    seafood professionals.

The seafood community has Bob to thank for his significant contributions
in using the internet at the inception of pc computers and e-mail
addresses in facilitating the exchange of sound and technical seafood
information among industry, academia and government.

Bob, a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists, has received
    numerous accolades during his career.

Most recently in November 2002, Bob was awarded the National Fisheries
Institute's FINesse award for "Seafood Nutrition, Health & Food Safety
    Research."

In May 2003, Bob was awarded the Harold Macy Food Science and Technology
Award in recognition of his technology transfer efforts. (The award,
established in 1981, is given annually to recognize an outstanding example
of food technology transfer or cooperation between scientists or
technologists in any two of the following settings: academic, government,
and private industry. The purpose of the award is to advance the
profession and practice of food technology and to honor Harold Macy,
former Dean Emeritus of the University of Minnesota and a Founding Member
of IFT. The award consists of a plaque, $2500.00 honorarium and travel
expenses. The awardee will be invited to address the Minnesota Section at
the annual Macy Award meeting to be held in Minneapolis-St. Paul.) Bob's
siblings, children, grandchildren live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This
award was a wonderful tribute in which his wife (Vor) and family members
were able to see him honored for his lifetime achievements in the State
that he grew up in and received his bachelor's degree.

    > Dear Pam,
    > Kindly convey my deepest and heartfelt condolences to Bobs family. Bob's contribution will be well remembered as he was most active member of our group and has created a knowledge bank by contributing to various discussions. We will really miss a wonderful member like him.
