    This is an update on training course, the Lawrence LC method for PSP toxins
    AOAC 2005.6

    Course Instructors (Seattle, Washington, Washington State DOH Lab and Hotel
    Nexus)

    Barbara Niedzwiadek, Health Canada, Ottawa, Canada - Laboratory Course
    (Tues, Wed June 20,21)
    Ana Gago-Martinez, University of Vigo, Spain - Method Overview Lecture (Mon,
    June 19)

    These on-site instructors (as well as Jim Lawrence, the method primary
    author) have many years of experience with it and are both members of the
    training and support cadre for the method. In this and all our training
    initiatives, open discussions of implementation issues will also be held, at
    courses and at other Task Force meetings and symposia.

    Course Development

    We thank Barbara Niedzwiadek and also Thea Rawn at Health Canada for their
    dedicated and detailed work in preparing the course and materials and also
    method author Jim Lawrence, Health Canada (retired) for his expert advice.
    Training materials and approach developed for this course will be applied to
    additional Task Force lab courses to follow in other locations.

    We also wish to express our thanks to Ana Gago-Martinez for agreeing to
    share her experiences in training others in this method and to give the
    overview lecture.
     
    Enrollment As of June 1, there are 20+ (new maximum is 24 after adding
    another course day to maintain our "hands on" goal of maximum 12 per session
    in the lab)

    Students Enrolled are both regulatory scientists and researchers from
    England, Ireland, Turkey, Canada (CFIA, both coasts), United States
    (multiple state laboratories, also NOAA, FDA, USAMRIID).
