A brief description:
The responsibilities will include extension activities with emphasis
on the areas of muscle foods processing and food safety. The appointee
will work with a diverse clientele, including muscle food processors,
producers and county agents, in developing and implementing a muscle
foods extension program. The appointee is expected to conduct
application-based research in muscle foods and organize workshops/short
courses to train/educate muscle food industry clientele and to publish
research and extension articles and technical pamphlets. The appointee
will be expected to initiate/participate in multidisciplinary activities
including development of innovative methods to support overall food
systems programs. The ability to conduct applied research, procure
external funding, and collaborate with existing research faculty is
desired. The appointee will be expected to participate with other
faculty in further strengthening the IFT-accredited food science
program. This position will interact in a comprehensive program, the
Food Science Institute, with faculty in other departments, including
Animal & Dairy Sciences, Poultry Science, Agricultural Economics, Plant
Sciences and units within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
