Here's an example. If your pack is to be 1 kg, and you are asked to pack at
20% glaze then
Net defrosted weight of shrimps only is at least 800 grams, gross (with
glaze) is at least 1000 gms.
Then count, if frozen count, will be # of pieces per 800 grams so if count
20/30, count should be between 20 and 30 pieces in 800 grams
If Net or True count, then it will be # of pices per 1000 grams, then if
count is 20/30, then count should be between 20 and 30 pieces in 1000 gms.
As you know, IQF shrimp should always be glazed to protect it from
dehydration. So when the product is glazed for protection but buyer wants
true weights and true counts, then the glazing is "compensated" in that the
gross weight of the pack should be net weight plus the glaze (so if 10%
glazing is put on for protection of the product), then the gross weight of
the product in the pack should be at least 1100 grams and this is called 10%
glaze, compensated.
For the 20% glaze example mentioned above, your pack is 1 kg pack with 20%
glaze "not compensated".
Hope this is clear,

Subject: Reg Shrimp counts
Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm from Chennai recently entered seafood processing, packing and storing
business.
I always get requirements from our different buyers to pack shrimps in
Frozen Weight, Frozen Count or sometimes in Net Weight, Net Count.
Suppose if we take K G Count as 10, what will be the avg no of shrimps and
its per shrimp weight when we pack at 20% glaze Frozen count frozen wt and
net count net wt.
Can somebody make clear what is the difference between the two. Are there
any web literature available on the same.
Please guide me.
Thanks and regards
