Subject: Official (Lawrence et al) LC Method for PSP Toxins
- Training Opportunities
Dear Colleagues:
This year we will be offering "hands-on" laboratory training courses using
the (recently approved by AOAC) Official Method of Analysis 2005.6 for the
PSP toxins "Prechromatographic Oxidation and Liquid Chromatography with
Fluorescence Detection." The courses would be one day in length, focused
specifically on procedures in the method most critical to success, and
would also be scheduled with Task Force related activities such as
symposia, workshops, etc.
Course fees have not been finalized but I anticipate in range $300-$500
and we would have more than one price option to give discounted combined
fee to include registration at the associated conference, etc.
Available enrollment slots for each course will be limited, and so we are
also investigating various locations for 2006:
1) June 2006, Seattle, WA (Washington State Dept. of Health Laboratory)
suggested date for the course and a small Task Force meeting is June 21,
2006 and the AOAC Pacific NW meeting in nearby Tacoma, WA is June 22, 23,
2006 and possible excursion June 24 (Course instructor: to be determined)
2) Sept. 2006, Minneapolis, MN (site of Sept 2006 AOAC Annual Meeting
which will also include full Task Force subgroup meetings on various toxin
groups and a symposium as well) Prospective date for course is Sept 16,
2006, and Dates of the AOAC meeting itself are Sept 17-20, 2006 (Course
instructor: Dr James Lawrence)
3) Please suggest an alternate location and time of year.
Please respond, at your earliest convenience, stating if you or others at
your location would attend these training activities or not, and also give
suggestions to help us with successful planning, including proposed
alternate locations, fees, etc. To plan class size, location, etc your
response is very important. Nothing is finalized yet regarding exact dates
or fees and the sooner we hear back from you the better in setting these
up.
Thanks for your attention to this, and in advance, for your prompt
response.
Best Regards,
Jim
