DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors and/or conducts scientific research related to human parasite
infections from seafood. Identifies parasites in seafood products through
microscopy or other laboratory methods. Works in a team environment to
formulate regulatory policies for establishing regulatory limits and
hazard control strategies for parasites. Collaborates with FDA scientists
and consumer safety officers. Attends professional symposia and
conferences and represents FDA. Gives public presentations at conferences.
Advises FDA officials at all levels about parasite hazards and controls,
including the possible public health ramifications.
