    *57^th Annual Meeting, Anchorage, Alaska *

      March 5-8, 2006 – The Hotel Captain Cook

    Welcome to the 57^th Annual Meeting of the Pacific Fisheries
    Technologists. The meeting will be held MARCH 5-8, 2006 at the Hotel
    Captain Cook in Anchorage, Alaska. The PFT 2006 Planning Committee is
    working on an interesting program and invites participants from industry
    (harvesting, processing and retail), academia, and government agencies
    to three days of presentations, discussions, and social interactions.

        FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS

    Technical and scientific papers with a focus on seafood products and
    technology in the following areas would be appropriate:

    · Seafood Biochemistry, Microbiology, Processing, Engineering

    · Seafood Marketing

    · Value-added Products

    · Waste/ Byproducts

    · Aquaculture and Feeds

    · Shellfish

    · Fish Harvesting and Handling

    · Marine Biology

    · Environmental Issues

    · Current Regulatory Issues

    · Student Representative Session

    Please contact us if you and others are interested in a session on a
    more focused topic.

    There will be oral presentations and a poster session. Oral
    presentations must fit into 20-minute time slots, so plan on a 15-minute
    presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Each
    poster must fit onto a 4 ft by 6ft space and be readable from a few feet
    away.

    Abstracts are due by JANUARY 15, 2006. Please prepare your abstracts
    using the following guidelines:

    *GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACTS*

    · Submit a one-page text in English containing 200-300 words describing
    the introduction, objective, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion.

    · Type the title in bold letters.

    · Give the authors’ names and affiliations on a separate line,
    indicating the presenter with an asterisk.

    · Indicate whether the abstract is for an oral presentation or a poster.

    · Student Presenters: indicate whether you are a B.S./M.S. or Ph.D.
    student, and if you wish your presentation to be considered for the
    student presentation contest.

    · Abstracts should be sent by e.mail or by regular post on a 3.5 floppy
    disk / CD or DVD in MS word format. Faxed copies will not be accepted.

    · Be sure to include your full name and address, fax number and e.mail
    details.

    · All the abstracts must be sent by JANUARY 15, 2006 to:

    *STUDENT PAPER **COMPETITION*

    We encourage students to attend the meeting and present their works.
    There will be four student awards including two for oral presentations
    and two for poster presentations. Each award will be $500. Please note
    your interest in joining this competition when you submit your abstract.

    *STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE SESSION*

    We will provide an opportunity for a university student representative
    to deliver an oral presentation with related information on seafood
    research in his or her academic program. Each student will be given 15
    minutes for the oral presentation. The Head/Director or Dean of the
