    Dear Friends and Colleagues,
     
    The next biennial conference of the International Instititute of Fisheries Economics & Trade will be held in Portsmouth, UK, on July 11-14 2006. Please submit your abstract and join us, and the organizers at the Centre for the Economics and Management of Aquatic Resources (CEMARE), for an exciting and highly interactive event featuring themes including:
     
    Fish for the future: recovering fisheries from crisis or collapse
    Ocean management: fisheries and the ecosystem
    Aquaculture
    Development
    International Trade
    Marketing
    Modelling
    Policy and Management
     
    and special sessions on:
     
    Management of High Seas Fisheries
    Post-tsunami damage assessment and rehabilitation
    Economic Effects of Climate Change on Fisheries
    Trade, Environment and the Poor
    Rights-based Fisheries and Co- and Community Based Fisheries Management
    Measurement and Impacts of Subsidies in International Fisheries
    Capacity Reduction Programmes, including "Buybacks"
    Ecosystem Management
    Biodiversity and Protected Species Management
    Cumulative Effects of Fishery Management
    Interjurisdictional Management of Aquatic Ecosystems
     
    among others. Economists, other social, biological, and physical scientists, resource managers, industry representatives, members of international agencies and NGOs, and anyone else with an interest in the conference topics are warmly welcomed to IIFET events.
