I regret any confusion that the title of our message to the listserv,
which was sent yesterday announcing the initiation of a HACCP survey,
may have inadvertently caused. The term "mandatory", in the subject line
of the e-mail message, referred to the mandatory U.S. Seafood HACCP
Inspection System and was not intended to suggest that it is mandatory
for you to respond to the survey. Participation is entirely
    voluntary--thank you.

    ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) has prepared an industry survey
    to:

    1. Seek comments on the clarity and content of the "Fish and Fisheries
Products Hazards and Controls Guidance (3rd ed.)" which is undergoing a
    revision by the US FDA.

    2. Identify areas of concern regarding guidelines for hazards controls,
    monitoring, recordkeeping, etc.

    3. Identify seafood educational and/or research needs.

The information collected will be held confidential. Results of the
survey will be tabulated and comments will be submitted in the
aggregate. NFI wishes to get a broad set of opinions throughout the
seafood processing community, therefore, would greatly appreciate it if
you take a little time to complete this short survey form--thank you!

    Access the survey via http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/haccp/committee/nfi.htm

If you have questions regarding the survey, please e-mail Dr. Barbara
Blakistone (bblakistone@nfi.org) at the National Fisheries Institute.
