Dear State, Federal Regulators, Shellfish Industry and Associations, and
    ISSC Members:

Some of you already know about this Stakeholders Meeting Wednesday June 22
at the Shoreline Lab of DOH, Washington State facility. The purpose of the
meeting, which is followed the next day at Univ. Puget Sound in Tacoma by
marine toxin presentations and workshop at the meeting of the Pacific NW
Section of AOAC Int., is to inform stakeholders about the methodology
validation efforts of the Marine and Freshwater Toxins Task Force of AOAC.
Although originally planned to reach out to our Pacific Region stakeholders,
all interested stakeholders are welcome to attend. Those of you who attended
the Pac Rim ISSC meeting may have heard of our group and validation
activities from Greg Langloise. Our website is
    http://www.aoac.org/marine_toxins/task_force.htm
    <http://www.aoac.org/marine_toxins/task_force.htm>

At our Wed afternoon meeting we will tell you about the activities of the
Task Force. This will include a progress report, an overview of what
occurred at our Spain meeting this April, what is in planning including our
Orlando meetings this Sept. We will also be happy to answer your questions.
In this meeting we will also have our three special guests from among the
voting section of our Task Force (Univ. Vigo, and from the mussel producers
of Galicia, Spain, and from the University of Santiago, Chile and also from
NOAA, Seattle). They will also give some excellent lectures on marine toxins
(and stakeholder talk by Spanish shellfish industry on toxin impact) the
following day at the AOAC meeting. And I encourage you to attend this
Pacific NW Section Meeting of AOAC on Thur June 23 and Friday June 24.
