    DIRECTOR, QUALITY ASSURANCE / REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

    Chicken of the Sea, an international seafood manufacturing company is
    seeking an experienced individual that will be responsible for the
    development and execution of their corporate quality assurance and
    regulatory compliance functions. Position reports to the Chief Operating
    Officer.

    Primary responsibilities:
    · Develops and implements operating procedures and processes that assure
    products:
    1. Deliver superior quality as defined by our consumers and customers
    2. Comply with company safety and quality standards and applicable
    regulatory, manufacturing and labeling requirements.
    · Oversee and execute quality processes within existing COSI operating
    departments that:
    1. Build quality into our products through processes optimization (SPC, 6
    Sigma and Lean Production).
    Lower costs and increase quality by providing expertise in:
    § SPC and 6 Sigma
    § Lean Management
    § Self directed work teams and quality circles
    2. Fulfill the regulatory requirements, including but not limited to
    HACCP, good manufacturing practice, and sanitation standards.
    · Conducts pre-contract and ongoing facility audits of company and
    supplier manufacturing facilities to assure adherence to company
    specifications and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
    o HACCP
    o Process control
    o GMP's (good manufacturing practice)
    o Sanitation standards
    o Traceability
    · Develop and train the QA/QC and Operating staffs to develop the company
    quality assurance functions. Works closely with plant QA/QC and Operating
    departments at company manufacturing and warehousing facilities to build
    in quality through process control.
    · Coordinate, direct inspections and audits of our processes to assure
    finished goods distributed by the company meet our quality goals of
    superior quality and consistency relative to competition.
    · Implement a quality tracking system that measures COS product quality
    relative to competition and with action plans and areas of
    responsibilities to ensure our relative product quality is superior to our
    competition (2 to 1 product preference).
    · Lead and direct the corporate quality assurance department and
    laboratory.
    · Act as liaison between company and federal regulatory agencies (FDA,
    USDA, NMFS), customer QA/QC representatives, and third party auditors.
    · Direct consumer affairs staff, coordinate handling of consumer
    correspondence and reporting results to management.

    Qualifications:
    · Bachelors degree in Food Science or Manufacturing Engineering
    · Strong background (at least 5 years) in 6 Sigma and Lean Management
    · Background in plant operations and quality processes
    · Background in establishing self directed work teams, quality circles and
    training
    · At least 5 years experience in quality assurance/regulatory affairs in a
    food processing or related industry
    · Knowledge of food related regulatory requirements and statistical
    quality control.
    · Strong drive, leadership, and supervisory experience.
    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills and training skills
    (train the trainer).
