    A series of seafood quality, regulatory update, HACCP and Sanitation
    Control Procedures training programs will be offered during the last two
    weeks of April 2005 in California:

    April 18-22 - Irvine, CA
    April 25-29 - San Francisco, CA

    Pre-registration by March 18 is required for the Basic HACCP or Sanitation
    Control Procedures courses.

    For the Seafood Quality and Country of Origin Labeling Workshop, HACCP
    Segment II, or FDA Food Security and HACCP Update, you can register by
    April 8, 2005.

    NOTE: Information on completing HACCP "Segment I" (HACCP Internet Training
    Course) via Cornell University is on the internet at:

    The HACCP and Sanitation Control Procedures courses will be conducted by
    several experienced trainers from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration,
    California Department of Health Services, and the Alaska and California
    Sea Grant Programs.

    The seafood quality and COOL workshops will have presentations from Dr.
    Donald Kramer (Seafood Specialist, University of Alaska Marine Advisory
    Program), Kirk Brown (Supervisor, NOAA US Department of Commerce, Seafood
    Inspection Program) and Barry L. Carpenter (Deputy Director, USDA,
    Agricultural Marketing Service Livestock and Seed Program).

    These programs are offered to the seafood industry in cooperation with
    the University of California Sea Grant Extension Program, University of

    Services - Food and Drug Branch, NOAA/USDC Seafood Inspection Program, US
    Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Marketing Service, Western
    Association of Food and Drug Officials and California Fisheries and
    Seafood Institute.
