Dear Seafood Scientists, Technologists and Industry Members:

The 49th Annual Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference will be held in
Halifax, Nova Scotia September 26-29. Due to a number of scheduling
factors, the deadline for volunteer papers (oral and poster) has been
    extended to September 13th.

Please submit your abstracts (150-200 words) directly to Tom Gill, 2004
AFTC Conference Chair. Registration ($225 Canadian) can be paid at the
door. You should make your hotel reservation as soon as possible with
the Lord Nelson Hotel by calling 1-800-565-2020 or visiting their
    website at www.lordnelsonhotel.com.

This is an important AFTC meeting! We will be discussing plans for the
upcoming 50th Annual AFTC Meeting that will represent the 6th Joint
Meeting with our sister association, the Seafood Science and Technology
Society of the Americas. This meeting will be chaired by Prof. George
Flick at Virginia Polytechnic and State University.

In addition, we will begin the planning process for the 2nd Joint
Meeting between AFTC and the West European Fish Technologists'
Association (WEFTA) that will be held in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada
in 2006. Prof. Fereidoon Shahidi is serving as Chair for the 2nd
Trans-Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference. Your input into these
important seafood science and technology conferences would be greatly
    appreciated.

If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact
either Tom Gill or David Green at NC State University.

    Sincerely,

    Tom Gill**********************************************************
