Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, LA) is recruiting for an
Extension Associate to assist the Seafood Technology Extension Professor
with the development and implementation of quality certification and
improvement programs for the shrimp industry in Louisiana. Duties will
include assisting and leading workshops for shrimp industry harvesters and
processors, developing text, visual and computer-based materials to
support workshops and training, and performing hands-on training with
industry personnel.
At least a B.S. degree (M.S. desired) in food science and technology,
fisheries, or a related field is required. The preferred candidate will
have experience and familiarity with the domestic shrimp harvesting and/or
processing industry, university education, good computer and communication
skills. The extension associate will need to be individually motivated and
capable of working with shrimp harvesters and processors, Louisiana Sea
Grant and LSU Ag Center extension personnel to successfully develop and
transfer quality certification procedures and improvement practices to the
industry.
