Colleagues:
I'm seeking volunteers for an expert panel to review and provide
comments on a four-page short report for Congress that I have just
completed presenting a brief chronology of events related to the current
shrimp trade dispute between certain U.S. shrimp interests and six
foreign countries. I should have this product ready to distribute for
review around March 26th.
Summary: "In 2003, the U.S. shrimp industry became increasingly
concerned by what it believed to be unfair pricing practices for
farm-raised shrimp exported by six countries: Brazil, China, Ecuador,
India, Thailand, and Vietnam. An ad hoc committee of shrimp boat owners
and shrimp processors petitioned for federal relief. This action is
opposed by U.S. seafood distributors as well as the targeted exporting
countries. Final determinations on action to be taken are anticipated
in late summer and fall 2004."
I'm seeking reviewers who would be able to review this draft and
return comments to me no later than April 30, 2004. I'm looking for
individuals who can help me better define the issues presented, clarify
factual background on these issues, and identify additional events of
concern. If interested in being considered for this review panel,
please e-mail me a few sentences stating briefly your qualifications for
serving on this expert panel and provide your postal address. I
anticipate selecting about 8-10 individuals to serve on this panel who
are relatively current on shrimp and/or trade issues and represent a
spectrum of constituencies and interests. I will snail mail you the
document for review, and would like to receive your comments either via
fax or e-mail.
Thanks to all who have participated on my expert panels in the
past; your continued and excellent critiques of my products have been
extremely beneficial to Congress!!
