Tuna viscera can certainly contain fine particles that feel grainy to the
touch; Probably bony parts or ear bones from their prey.

    Can you separate them out?

Try to digest them in an acid or base. Do they get soft??

Then you will know the answer.

Subject: Fish meal from Tuna wastes

    Hello,

Does anyone have data on the chemical composition of tuna wastes e.g.
protein and fat content of raw and cooked wastes. Can tuna viscera also
contain "sand" or other particles which they ingested with their prey?
