We are seeking a consultant to provide technical assistance to the Competent Authority responsible for export health certification of food products in Belize, including fishery products from aquaculture. The post is to support the strengthening of laboratory management for the Central Investigation Laboratory of the Belize Agricultural Health Authority. The succesful applicant will be required to advise on introduction of new analytical methodologies (AAS, GC and HPLC), create a laboratory information system, advise on quality assurance procedures and train staff in the new systems developed.
The duration of the post is for 9 months in Belize. The post holder should be a national of a member country of the Inter.American Development Bank (list of members is at: http://www.iadb.org/exr/english/aboutidb/about_idb_member.htm ), should hold a degree in Chemistry, and be able to demonstrate experience of laboratory management at senior level. Fluency in spoken and written English is also required. Salary and conditions are negotiable, but will be in line with the responsibilities and level of this post.
