Aloha Group :
To export fisheries products into the EU one needs, among the usual paperwork, a veterinary/sanitary inspection certificate, signed and officially stamped by the "competent authority" of the exporting country/local. Of course there is still the obligation to have in place and functioning (with veterinary approval) a HACCP plan and an approved facility for export.
What I wish to have "officially" confirmed or refuted, perhaps by someone on the list as to whether or not it is necessary when exporting fisheries products to the USA, that the USFDA systematically require a veterinary health certificate with each export shipment, signe by the export county's écompetent authority. I realise that there are certainly all the HACCP and SSOP requirements that must be satisfied before export can take place, but I can't seem to find anywhere in the Federal Regs. a definitive obligation for the exporter to furnish such "health certifications". This of course is for generally high seas species, (tunas, some marlin/swordfish which are tested for Hg) and the identified hazard is histamine - controlled by strict time/temperature monitoring.
Could someone please assist in this seemingly simple question ? Thanks all in advance.
