The previous e-mail message from Alex Augusto Gonçalves contained an
attached file which originally had a virus in it (see explanation from
Mike Waid below). However, the UCD campus virus software stripped the
virus CLEAN from the file before it circulated to our mailing list.

NOTE: Our software is only as good as long as it has the most current
virus definitions! So, I continue to advise our subscribers not to open
any file attachments that are circulated via this mailing list. If you
have your own website, please post your attachment on your server and
share a short paragraph along with the web address. If you don't have a
web server, e-mail me directly (pdtom@ucdavis.edu) and I will try to
accomodate your request by posting your attachment on our server.

More background information on how this snowball even started... The
e-mail address, hjphaff@ucdavis.edu, is not subscribed to our mailing
list. It's possible that this e-mail address was fraudulently used by a
virus to transmit messages. Again...that's why we have a no file
attachment policy. There's no guarantee that the file attachment that you
receive via this mailing list was intentionally sent by the subscriber.
Another reason for the policy is to minimize the size of the e-mail
message because some subscribers have limited storage space in their
    inbox.

Caveat - I can't emphasize enough the need for you to continually update
your virus protection software. Open file attachments at your own risk.

    Hello Pamela,

The your_details.zip file would have been the Sobig.E virus payload. The
IMSP.gif file is just a flashing email icon.

    regards,
    Mike
