Dear Ger
Asides in some commentaries on dioxins in fish oils suggest that concentrations of dioxins can be reduced by processing, but do not give information on the process. I have a recollection that steam stripping is a process, but I can't find a description and my recollection might be faulty so don't quote me. An alternative is to source the oil from fisheries prosecuted in waters with low contamination with dioxins; I believe the south Pacific is such a region. You could try contacting the International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organization, web site www.iffo.org.uk, for information.

Subject: removal of Dioxins from Marine oils
Hello again List,
First let me thank every one who contributed answers to my query on the Markings of salmon, I will put all responses together and circulate to those who asked for them but right now I have a new and unrelated query.
Does any one know of technology which might be used to reduce the dioxin levels of marine oils? does such technology exist and/ or is any one doing any work in this area,
Once again I thank you in advance for your assistance
