    Dear Hans Morten,

Thanks for this very revealing info on Ozone. As you might be well aware of,
currently 99 % of all Tilapia fillets originating from China and Taiwan that
is being sold into the EU has been treated with ozone. According to your
information provided, this then is a clear violation. How come no action is
being taken sofar by the competent authorities ?

Do you have the regulations on the use of Ozone on ( sea ) food handy ? If
yes, I wud greatly appreciate receiving a copy.

    Cheers,

      Dear list

      A. Ozone are not approved as a food additive in Europe.
Food, that have been into contact with ozone, can not legally enter the
    European market.
Sellers of ozone equipment do not tell this part of the story.

      B. Ozone can be allowed for treating drinking water, and for disinfecting
    equipment.
Through very intense work with the Danish authorities, my clients gained
permission to use ozone for disinfecting their fish tanks, but ... for that
purpose normal chemical disinfectants are cheaper, more effective, and make
    lesser damage to the equipment.

      C. Intense rumors are, that some fishing vessels (no rumors of Danish
vessels) are using ozone to prolong the shelf life of the fish, which are
    illegal in Europe.

If You want to use ozone to treat food, incl fish, for the European
market, you have to get ozone placed on EU´s list of approved food
additives. This can be done, by proving, that there are no risk of eating
    treated food.

Do NOT waste your money by trying.

When I was working as a Danish governmental seafood plant inspector, and
now as a consultant, I have heard a lot about ozone:
Washing poultry (it works in America, it will work for you too)
Washing salads (McDonalds have never found out, so nobody will ever find
    out)
Air disinfecting seafood in the chill store (give 5 days more)
      etc
None of these cases survived a closer study.

Teach me, if I am wrong. Ozone pops up regularly, and I would like to
    learn more.

      Yours sincerely
