    Hello Kathleen
Histamine is rapidly adsorbed on to the surface of glass containers when
stored in aqeous or methanolic solution at ambient or sub-zero temperatures
leading to significant errors in histamine analysis. Addition of acid to
the solution or use of polyethylene containers eliminates this effect
according to Murray and McGill, J. Assoc. Off. Anal. Chem., Vol. 63, No. 1,
    71-75, 1982.
    I hope this is useful.
    Regards, Kevin Whittle
