I believe that currently the US FDA has no established method for detecting
nitrofuran metabolites in shrimp
I believe the issue with the nitrofurans is the metabolites and degradation
products rather than the parent drug
so residue detection is made very difficult by the variety of compounds
requiring detection
you may wish to check the FDA website at www.fda.gov
