    Dear list

Use of NH3 as a cooling medium have been questioned for use on board purseseiners with RSW-tanks.
Not the use itself, but the amount of NH3:

The boat can carry a volume of 1600 m3, 80 % filling with herring or mackerel.

                          - 50 kg filling will not give any trouble if leaked into the tanks
                          - 200 kg filling will

This is by no means clear to me; I would expect, that no matter how much NH3 filled into a tank or spread on all tanks, this will pollute the first tons of fish in the flow, and no more.

Or the smell will pollute the whole catch, but the there will be no difference according to the filling.

Does anybody have experience on these matters?

    Please assist soon.

    Yours sincerely
