Re: IFT and upcoming seafood conferences

Hi Clare and Seafood HACCP List,

Here is a 6 year listing of IFT meetings:

Future IFT Annual Meetings and Food Expo:

    2002 - Anaheim, CA - June 15-19 www.ift.org/divisions/seafood/2002techpro.html
    2003 - Chicago, IL - July 12-16
2004 - Las Vegas, NV - July 12-16, (Monday through Friday)
    2005 - New Orleans, LA - July 16-20
    2006 - Orlando, FL - July 22-26

Program information is usually available on the Institute of Food
Technologists web site (www.ift.org) by early March. Note: on March 6,
2002 I posted a message announcing the program and information for
international guests who need a letter of invitation. This message is
    archived at:
    http://listproc.ucdavis.edu/archives/seafood/log0203/0009.html

Clare, I remembered your HACCP presentation at our recent Pacific
Fisheries Technologists meeting in Reno. Perhaps you and other Seafood
HACCP subscribers would like to participate as a presenter in future
    years?

I'm not sure when the call for papers for the 2003 meeting will be. I
expect that the information will be up on the IFT website around August or
September (my estimate). In the meantime you can go to this web site and
get an idea of the timeline and content that is requested for submitting
either an oral or poster presentation. An IFT contact is also listed and
    can probably answer questions:
    http://www.ift.org/meetings/am-abstracts/techguid.shtml

When meeting planners notify me of their upcoming seafood conferences, I
post them on our Seafood Network Information Center just as soon as
    possible. http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/events/meetings.htm I have nothing
listed so far that is being offered in 2003. Usually, meeting programs
are not planned that far in advance.

On a side note, I don't have dates posted yet on SeafoodNIC; I'm waiting
    for an official announcement:

The 2002 Atlantic Fisheries Technologists/Subtropical Seafood
Technologists meeting is being planned around October 6-9 for Orlando, FL.
The details are still being developed and I expect that we'll see a call
for papers soon. Also in conjunction with this date the Seafood HACCP
Alliance for Training and Education is planning an update for HACCP
trainers. When the information is ready it will be posted on this mailing
list and on the SeafoodNIC's site (address above). In the meantime, if
anyone has questions, please contact Dr. Steven Otwell
    (OTWELL@gnv.ifas.ufl.edu).

The 2003 Pacific Fisheries Technologists meeting will be held in Astoria,
OR during February 23-26, 2003. The first call for papers usually goes
out to this listserv around September. If anyone has any questions about
the PFT meeting, please contact Dr. Ed Kolbe (e-mail: Ed.Kolbe@orst.edu)

    Kindest regards,

    Pamela Tom, UC Davis
