To: Seafood HACCP Mailing List
The mailing list is fine, however within the past 24 hours there were 3
viral messages from non-subscribers that tried to get through our closed
mailing list but didn't succeed.
Also within this time frame I personally have also received a viral
message from a colleague in the department; my colleague was unaware her
MAC Outlook addressbook was infected. Plus, I have received 4 other
messages from global sources unknown to me.
I'm sending this caution to you, because you may also be vulnerable to
viral messages from any source (not necessarily from this mailing list).
The variety of subjects in the messages that have come in include:
"Introduction on ADSL"
"A new game"
"honey"
"Some questions"
"A IE 6.0 pitch"
(Duplicate messages were received on some of the above subjects.)
There is no text message with the viral message, only an attachment.
(Don't open the attachments...they may look safe, but can be disguised to
be a command or execute file.)
