    Don't know if this will be much help, but I have occasionally seen
    louvar (as it is spelled around here) in fresh fish distribution
    channels in the San Francisco area. I don't remember if it come from the
    California-based drift gillnet swordfish fishery or the Hawaii-based
    tuna fishery, but my impression is that it is an incidental catch in one
    or both of these fisheries. In any case, it's been a few years since I
    last saw it, but I haven't been following the local market as closely as
    I used to. As I recall, the meat is rather like tuna in texture, but
    snow-white.
